In de tentoonstelling Parallel Cases presenteren studententeams en onderzoekers van 28 universiteiten en hogescholen uit 20 verschillende landen hun projecten geïnspireerd door het thema Open City.
De 45 inzendingen laten met tekeningen, modellen, films of andere audiovisuele middelen zien hoe studenten en hun docenten denken dat ‘sociale cohesie’ kan worden vormgegeven door middel van architectonische en stedenbouwkundige projecten.
Aan de tentoonstelling heeft de Rotterdamse Academie van Bouwkunst de Parallel Cases Biënnale Award verbonden. Een internationale jury onder voorzitterschap van de Rijksbouwmeester, Liesbeth van der Pol, maakt tijdens de opening bekend welke inzending op de beste, meest inventieve en creatieve wijze ingaat op de uitdaging de Open City vorm te geven.
Parallel Cases is te zien in het monumentale ‘Innovation Dock’ op het terrein van de Rotterdamse Droogdok Maatschappij (RDM), een voormalige scheepswerf midden in het havengebied.
