Parallel Cases Exhibition
Curator: Ralf Pasel
Parallel Cases establishes a link between the main exhibition’s ‘best practice’ projects and projects that evolved out of an academic context.
44 projects from 28 countries, allow gaining profound insight in how the Open City is discussed, interpreted and given shape at different universities around the world.
This unique overview on how co-existence is designed by students and professors in specific architectural and urban design projects renders a cross-section through the academic debate on the Open City itself. In addition, it gives a glimpse on how city life is explored and researched upon and which role urban management plays in the development of today’s metropolitan agglomerations.
Parallel Cases looks into the future of our cities, triggering curiosity in which direction urban life may develop over the generations to come.
Parallel Cases is a collective project of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam, the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Urban Design, the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Strategies in Rotterdam and the Rotterdam University.
