Parallel Cases//IABR@RDM
RDM Campus, Rotterdam-Heijplaat
In the Parallel Cases exhibition, student teams and researchers from 28 universities in 20 different countries respond to the Open City theme.
The 45 entries show, with the use of drawings, models, films and other audiovisual means, how students and their lecturers imagine architectural and urban development projects can help contribute to “social cohesion” in our future cities.
The Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and Urban Design has created a special award, the Parallel Cases Biennale Award, linked to the exhibition. At the opening ceremony, an international jury, chaired by the Dutch Chief Government Architect Liesbeth van der Pol, will announce which entry has come up with the best, most inventive and creative approach to the challenge of shaping the Open City.
Parallel Cases is presented at the monumental “Innovation Dock” on the site of the Rotterdam Droogdok Maatschappij (RDM), a former shipyard in the center of the port area.
