Curator and team
Kees Christiaanse (curator)
was a partner at OMA Rotterdam until 1989, when he founded KCAP Architects & Planners, which has offices in Rotterdam and Zurich, and has realized multiple buildings and urban projects worldwide.
Since 2003 he has been head of the Institute for Urban Design at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and a visiting professor at the London School of Economics. He is currently involved in the development of docklands in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Hamburg, and is designing an ‘urban breeding ground’ in London for the Olympic Legacy Masterplan.
He will develop the program of 4IABR in collaboration with his team of curators at the ETH Zurich, the IABR staff in Rotterdam, and local curators.
Tim Rieniets (co-curator)
is a lecturer and researcher at the chair for architecture and urban design at the ETH Zurich. He is initiator and coordinator of the Urban Research Studio and co-coordinator of the research and publication project Grenzgeografien. He is co-editor of the publications Atlas of Shrinking Cities (with Philipp Oswalt) and Cities of Collision – Jerusalem and the Principles of Conflict Urbanism (with Philipp Misselwitz). He has curated and participated in in several exhibition and has worked as lecture, teacher, and critic at international institutions.
Fabienne Hoelzel (assistant curator)
works as a researcher at the chair for architecture and urban design at the ETH Zurich. She has worked with Studio Daniel Libeskind, Berlin; 'Off Project' in Madrid, and with the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, as well as with Herzog & de Meuron, Basel, as a teaching assistant at the Technical University Munich. She is an editor of the eMagazine of swiss-architects.com and writes on a regular basis.
